The Bhopal Municipal Corporation has initiated a strict campaign across the city aimed at maintaining cleanliness. This drive targets activities such as littering, the use of single-use plastic, and garbage burning. On Monday, a total of ₹9,700 in spot fines was collected in 41 cases as part of various enforcement actions conducted in different areas.

Enforcement Under Commissioner's Directives

In accordance with the directives from Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Sanskruti Jain, the Health Department staff has been continuously monitoring and taking action to strengthen the sanitation system. On Monday, staff from Zone No. 15 imposed a fine of ₹500 on Mr. Aslam Bhai in Ward No. 66, Nizamuddin Colony area for burning garbage. This action underscores the corporation's commitment to pollution control.

Actions Against Swachhta Standards Violators

The municipal staff's detailed enforcement included collecting fines totaling ₹5,500 in three cases for dumping construction and demolition (C&D) waste in public places. This significant amount highlights the corporation's seriousness in addressing violations that contaminate public spaces and harm the environment. Proper disposal of waste generated from construction and demolition is crucial not only for the city's aesthetics but also for long-term environmental health.

Additionally, a fine of ₹200 was levied on two individuals for using banned polythene or single-use plastic. The ban on single-use plastic is a vital step towards environmental protection, as it helps reduce plastic pollution. The corporation continues to raise public awareness and take action against those who violate these regulations.

Fines Imposed for Littering in Public Spaces

Furthermore, a sum of ₹3,500 was collected as fines in 35 different cases of littering in public places. These cases may include spitting on pavements, discarding garbage indiscriminately instead of using designated bins, or any other act that compromises the cleanliness of public areas. The corporation's efforts aim to make the city not only visually appealing but also to improve public health, as dirt can be a source of various diseases.
