Bhopal MP Discusses Traffic Congestion Relief with Commissioner for Old City

Traffic Flow Improvement in Old City Markets

In an effort to ease traffic congestion and address the concerns of traders in the bustling markets of Bhopal's old city, Bhopal MP Alok Sharma held a significant meeting with Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar on Friday. Representatives from the Bhopal Chamber of Commerce and various trader organizations participated in this discussion.

Traders informed the MP about persistent traffic jams, unnecessary barricading, encroachment, and other critical traffic-related problems plaguing market areas. A specific issue raised was the barricading near Moti Masjid, which severely hampered movement within the markets. MP Alok Sharma subsequently instructed the Police Commissioner to immediately remove the unnecessary barricading on the route from Moti Masjid towards Sadar Manzil.

The MP emphasized that the movement of both ordinary citizens and traders should not face any difficulties. Additionally, he stressed the need for strict action against drivers operating vehicles in the wrong direction to maintain traffic order and facilitate smoother commutes for market visitors.

Addressing Encroachment and Vendor Management

MP Alok Sharma also prominently highlighted the issue of encroachment in the Sultania Road and Imami Gate areas. He noted that a large number of fruit and vegetable vendors along the roadside near Iqbal Maidan were causing traffic obstruction. The MP urged the concerned authorities to not only remove encroachments but also ensure an organized system for vendors, so that their livelihoods are not adversely affected while maintaining smooth traffic flow.

Commissioner's Assurance and Future Steps

Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar assured MP Alok Sharma that all necessary actions would be taken with the convenience of the public and smooth traffic in mind. He also stated that a detailed survey of the relevant areas would be conducted by traffic experts. Based on the report of this survey, appropriate decisions would be made in the public interest.

Present at this meeting were also the President of the Bhopal Chamber of Commerce, Govind Goyal, along with officials from several trader organizations and relevant authorities.
