Bhindi Authorities Seize 4.5 Tonnes of Adulterated Mustard Oil Made with Mahua Kernels

Major Action Against Oil Adulteration in Mau

In a significant operation in the Mau region of Bhind district, the Food Safety Department has seized 4.5 tonnes of adulterated mustard oil from an establishment reportedly mixing mahua kernels into the product. The estimated value of the seized oil is approximately ₹7 lakh.

Investigation Launched Following Complaints

The action was carried out under the directives of the Collector of Bhind and led by SDM Gohad, Vikas Kamor. Food Safety Officer Mrs. Reena Bansal had been receiving persistent complaints about oil traders illegally mixing mahua kernels into mustard oil for sale.

Raid on Pawan Industries Uncovers Illegal Operation

Acting on these complaints, an administration team raided Pawan Industries, located on Taroli Road and operated by Prof. Pawan Kumar Agarwal. The raid was conducted in the presence of the area's Tehsildar, Patwari, Kotwal, and police force.

Discovery of Illegal Operations and Adulteration

During the raid, it was discovered that Pawan Industries was illegally operating an oil business without any valid food license. The oil trader significantly delayed opening the shutter for the inspection team, eventually requiring the joint team of police and administration to forcibly open it and commence the investigation.

Seizure of Adulterated Oil and Further Action

A total of 4.5 tonnes of mustard oil was recovered from the premises. The administration immediately dispatched samples of the oil to a laboratory in Bhopal for testing. All the seized goods have been confiscated, and further legal action is being taken in accordance with the law.

Tracking the Supply Chain of Adulterated Oil

The Food Department is actively investigating the distribution network and the exact locations where this adulterated oil was being sold.
