Cyber Fraud Strikes in Bhind

Cybercriminals have targeted two individuals in Bhind, leading to a significant financial loss. A jewellery merchant from Sadar Bazar had ₹6.90 lakh stolen from three of his bank accounts, while a rural resident from the Mihona police station area was defrauded of ₹1 lakh.

Detailed Incidents of Fraud

The jewellery merchant, Sanjay Kumar Jain, reported that his mobile phone suddenly went dead on the afternoon of October 15. By the time it was reactivated in the evening, he had not received any transaction alerts. Upon checking his UPI statement on October 20, he discovered large sums had been withdrawn from his accounts with Union Bank of India, Central Bank of India, and IDBI Bank.

He immediately took action to lock his accounts through customer service and filed a complaint with the cyber helpline. In a separate incident, Rajesh Kushwaha, a resident of Banthari village in the Mihona police station area, reported a ₹1 lakh fraud. He stated that an unknown individual defrauded him of the amount between the midnight of October 7 and October 8.

Investigation Underway

The City Kotwali police have registered cases against unknown accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for both incidents. Authorities are thoroughly investigating any potential technical connection between the mobile phone outage and the account debits.

Furthermore, the police are working to identify the bank accounts into which the stolen funds were transferred. Officials have asserted that the culprits will be apprehended soon.
