Advanced Lentil Cultivation Training in Guna

In a significant step towards boosting pulses production in the Guna district, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Aaron has provided training to 150 farmers on the scientific cultivation of an improved lentil variety, R.V.L. 13-5. Organized under the National Pulses Development Scheme, the cluster advance demonstration program aims to enhance the acreage and productivity of pulses in the district.

Farmers from various villages including Imaliya, Chhipon, Khamkheda, Ramgir Kala, and Aaron participated in this training program. Each participating farmer was provided with 16 kilograms of seeds to plant this new lentil variety on one acre of land, along with necessary fungicides for seed treatment.

Expert Guidance on Modern Techniques and Soil Health

Senior Scientist Dr. Dharmendra Singh enlightened farmers about modern lentil production techniques. He emphasized the importance of conserving soil health and the balanced use of fertilizers under the 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan Rabi 2026-27' (Save the Farm Campaign Rabi 2026-27). Dr. Singh explained how to achieve better yields while maintaining soil quality.

Meanwhile, Dr. Amit Kumar elaborated on effective pesticide management strategies. He informed farmers about the benefits of moving towards natural farming, avoiding the adverse effects of chemical pesticides. Experts believe that natural farming is not only beneficial for the environment but also reduces costs for farmers in the long run.

Focus on Quality and Increased Production

Scientists advised farmers to closely monitor each stage of the lentil crop planted under the demonstration program. This phased approach is expected to improve crop quality and contribute to increasing the total area under pulses in the Guna district. This training is considered a crucial initiative towards giving a new direction to the productivity of pulse crops.

The team of agricultural scientists also explained practical methods for technical management at the farm level, enabling farmers to earn better economic returns from improved varieties in the future.
