Son Arrested for Aiding Mother's Escape

Police in Bareilly have arrested a 23-year-old man for his role in helping his mother, a female prisoner, escape from district hospital custody. The incident occurred on September 2, 2026, when the prisoner, identified as Mamta, was brought to the hospital for treatment.

During interrogation, the arrested son, Vishal, confessed that he and his brother played a significant part in orchestrating their mother's escape. The police are continuing their investigation and are actively searching for the escaped prisoner, Mamta.

Details of the Escape Plan Emerge

The full extent of the escape became clear several days after the incident when police received information from an informant that the prisoner's son was planning to leave the city. Acting swiftly, police apprehended him.

Initial investigations revealed that Mamta had meticulously planned her escape with substantial help from her sons. The arrest of Vishal uncovered the details of this elaborate plan.

Burqa Used to Facilitate Escape

Vishal informed the police that his mother, Mamta, had hidden a burqa within her clothing. When she needed to use the restroom, she went inside and donned the burqa. This allowed her to easily evade the police guards and escape the hospital premises with her accomplices.

Vishal also claimed to have no specific knowledge of his mother's current whereabouts, suggesting they may have fled in different directions or that he might be misleading the police. Investigators are verifying the truthfulness of this claim.

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

Following the escape, police had been searching for the female prisoner and her accomplices. On the morning of September 21, police received reliable information that the accused, Vishal, was near the Chopula intersection bridge, preparing to flee the city.

Police acted immediately, cordoning off the area and successfully apprehending Vishal around 9:05 AM. During preliminary questioning, Vishal confessed to his involvement in the crime.

In addition to the original case, police have added a new section under the Indian Justice Code, Sections 262 and 263, related to aiding an escape. The arrested accused, Vishal, a resident of Tula Sherpur, has been presented before the court after completing the necessary legal formalities.

Key personnel involved in this operation included Station House Officer of Kotwali, Rajiv Kumar Singh, and Crime Inspector Tariq Khan, along with other police officers.
