Assistant Secretary Abducted, Assaulted, and Threatened

In the Lahar region of Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh, Vinod Singh Rajawat, an assistant secretary at a service cooperative society, was allegedly abducted and held captive for approximately 13 hours over a ₹5 lakh transaction dispute. During his captivity, Rajawat was severely beaten, sustaining serious injuries.

Upon regaining consciousness, Rajawat reported that the assailants brandished a pistol and forced him to sign three cheques, five blank papers, and two stamp papers worth ₹200 each. A case has been registered by the police against approximately half a dozen accused, and an investigation is underway.

Details of the Incident and Captivity

According to the complainant, Vinod Singh Rajawat, who works as an assistant secretary at the Machhand Service Cooperative Society, had been involved in a financial transaction with Ajit Singh Chauhan, a resident of Rurai village, for the past year. Ajit Singh had reportedly returned ₹5 lakh in cash to Vinod Singh about six to seven days prior.

On Tuesday morning, Ajit Singh allegedly invited Vinod Singh to Lahar under the pretext of settling the remaining accounts and introducing him to his father. Vinod Singh departed for Lahar in his car, picking up Abhinandan Singh, a resident of Banthari, along the way. Upon arrival at Ajit Singh's residence, Pawan Gupta and Veer Pratap Singh alias Viru, who were already present, began assaulting Vinod Singh. Subsequently, they all departed in Vinod Singh's car.

The victim stated that Ajit Singh took the driver's seat while Vinod Singh was placed in the rear. Two other youths were also in the car. During this period, Vinod Singh was subjected to continuous assault with a baseball bat, plastic pipe, kicks, and slaps. The sustained beating resulted in severe injuries to his hands, legs, back, head, and other parts of his body. He lost consciousness before reaching Alamapur. Upon regaining consciousness, the accused allegedly pointed a pistol at him and threatened to kill him before forcing him to sign the documents.

Further Threats and Release

The accused also warned Vinod Singh of dire consequences if he disclosed the incident to anyone. The victim reported that in the evening, Shailesh Upadhyay arrived in Alamapur, after which Vinod Singh, Shailesh, and Abhinandan departed for Lahar. After crossing Mihona, Ajit Singh, Viru, and two other youths allegedly attacked Vinod Singh again. He was finally able to escape the clutches of the accused around 11 PM when his parents arrived at the scene.

Police Action and Medical Examination

Based on the complaint filed by Assistant Secretary Vinod Singh Rajawat, the Lahar police have registered an FIR against Ajit Chauhan (resident of Rurai, Alamapur), Veerpratap Singh Chauhan (resident of Chachipura, Lahar police station), Pawan Gupta (Lahar), Abhinandan Chauhan (resident of Banthari, Raun police station), and two unidentified individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police are in the process of confirming the identities of the accused and apprehending them.

On Wednesday morning, the Lahar police conducted a medical examination of Vinod Singh Rajawat. The medical report confirmed the presence of injury marks, red and blue bruises on multiple parts of his body, and swelling on his right wrist. The police have filed a case against the accused under serious charges including kidnapping, unlawful detention and assault, criminal intimidation, and forced signing of cheques, blank papers, and stamp papers.
