'Distance from Drugs is Necessary 2.0' Campaign Gains Momentum
Madhya Pradesh Police's extensive public awareness campaign, 'Distance from Drugs is Necessary 2.0,' aimed at making Madhya Pradesh a drug-free state, has completed 12 days. During this period, over 1,500 awareness programs were organized across the state, conveying the message about the ill effects of drugs and the importance of a healthy life to millions of citizens.
This campaign has evolved into a significant public movement, driven by the collective participation of the police, various government departments, social organizations, educational institutions, and local citizens. The police are conducting special dialogue sessions at public places like markets, shopping malls, schools, hostels, playgrounds, religious sites, and gram panchayats.
The primary objective of these programs is to inform citizens about the severe consequences of drug abuse and to motivate them to keep themselves, their families, and society away from drugs. These efforts aim to foster a drug-free society through widespread public engagement and education.
Unique Public Participation Events Across Districts
Unique and effective awareness programs are being organized in various districts of the state as part of the campaign. In Indore, a 10-kilometer marathon was held under the leadership of the Police Commissioner, with enthusiastic participation from citizens. Along with the marathon, a digital pledge program encouraged youth to commit to staying away from drugs.
An awareness chariot and LED screens were also utilized for extensive public awareness in Indore. Renowned Indian cricketer Rajat Patidar participated in the Indore Police marathon, delivering a crucial message to the youth about adopting fitness and maintaining distance from drugs. In Bhopal, approximately 6,000 participants took part in the 'Run for Life' marathon, pledging to build a drug-free, healthy, and safe society.
Street plays at Govindpura ISBT educated the general public about the fatal effects of drug abuse. The Superintendent of Police, Bhopal (Rural), appealed to the residents on Red FM to actively contribute to building a drug-free society. In Anuppur district, special awareness sessions were held among athletes and students at football grounds, sports complexes, bus stands, and rural areas.
Through events like Rangoli and painting competitions, tree plantation, and mass pledges, youth were motivated to stay away from drugs. In Alirajpur, girls at Kasturba Gandhi Hostel were educated about the ill effects of drugs as well as sexual offenses. Special awareness programs were also conducted for devotees at the Narmada Ghat, in weekly markets, and at hostels.
Extensive Public Outreach and Community Participation
In Gwalior district, awareness programs were organized at 79 locations in urban and rural areas with the support of business organizations, town security committees, and social organizations. Citizens were urged to adopt a drug-free life and take collective pledges at public places, markets, traffic intersections, and villages.
In Seoni, a street play was effectively staged in collaboration with the Kalam Foundation, and students in schools were educated about the ill effects of drug abuse. The 23rd Battalion, Bhopal, has produced a short film on the ill effects of drugs, which is being disseminated on social media to spread awareness.
In Agar Malwa, Guna, Khargone, and Chhatarpur districts, business organizations, NGOs, town and village security committees, and social institutions jointly organized anti-drug public dialogue programs in markets, public places, and weekly markets. Police officials informed the public about the social and familial consequences of drug abuse and appealed for active participation in building a drug-free society.
Similar public dialogues took place in public and market areas of Ujjain. In Umaria, along with awareness programs, video messages were widely broadcast. In Katni, youth and citizens were made aware through anti-drug dialogues at markets and public places.
Broad Objectives and Future Direction of the Campaign
The 'Distance from Drugs is Necessary 2.0' campaign aims not only to spread awareness about the ill effects of drugs but also to make every citizen of society an active participant in building a drug-free, healthy, and safe Madhya Pradesh. The growing enthusiasm and support from citizens across the state are establishing this campaign as an effective public movement.
The police administration is continuously striving to maintain this public participation and make the campaign even more effective, ensuring significant progress towards the elimination of drugs from the state.
