Administration Takes Action Against Illegal Mining on Ramganga River

The district administration in Bareilly has resolved to take stringent action against illegal sand mining and its transportation from the banks of the Ramganga River. A significant operation was conducted late at night, around 2 AM, in the village of Chaubari within the Subhashnagar police station area, led by District Mining Officer Manish Kumar.

During this raid, a tractor-trolley found to be illegally transporting sand was apprehended. The seized vehicle has been handed over to the local police for further proceedings. The late-night operation in Chaubari village of the Subhashnagar police station area is being considered a major blow to the illegal mining racket that has been prevalent in the region for a considerable time.

Crackdown on Illegal Sand Transport

Under this special campaign, the District Mining Officer's team, acting on a tip-off, inspected the riparian areas of the Ramganga River. Taking advantage of the late-night darkness, some individuals were engaged in illegal sand extraction and were attempting to transport it in a tractor-trolley. As the mining department's team surrounded the area, those involved in the illegal mining managed to escape, but a tractor-trolley filled with sand was seized.

The confiscated tractor-trolley has been impounded at the Subhashnagar police station, and the department has commenced further investigations. Efforts are underway to identify the owner of the vehicle and the individuals involved in this illegal mining operation. The administration believes that such actions will deter those engaged in illegal mining and help prevent damage to the environment of the Ramganga River.

Increased Vigilance Follows Mounting Complaints

According to sources, complaints regarding illegal mining in the areas of Raundi, Milak, and along the banks of the Ramganga in the Sadar tehsil had been steadily increasing. The mining department swung into action after the matter was prominently raised by local residents and the media. It had become common knowledge in the area that a large-scale illegal sand trade was being conducted after sunset, utilizing JCBs, dumpers, and tractor-trolleys. These activities had caused significant resentment among local residents, as they were severely damaging the Ramganga's ecosystem.

This is not the first action against illegal mining; the mining department has previously conducted several campaigns, seizing dozens of vehicles. However, to effectively curb these illegal activities during the night, the administration needs to increase regular surveillance. Local residents now hope for continued swift and strict action on complaints, which will help preserve the natural character and environment of the Ramganga. The administration has assured that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in illegal mining and transportation.
