The affected stations include crucial hubs such as Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House, ITO, Khan Market, Lok Kalyan Marg, Patel Chowk, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Janpath, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, Seva Tirath, and Ramakrishna Ashram Marg. The DMRC communicated this decision through an official notification shared on the social media platform X.

Security Concerns Drive Decision

The primary reason cited for this precautionary step is security concerns stemming from the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar and the potential for large crowds. Authorities have temporarily halted passenger movement at these stations to prevent any untoward incidents. Security agencies are maintaining a close watch on sensitive areas and assessing the evolving situation.

This is not the first time metro stations have been shut for security reasons. Recently, on July 21st, several metro stations were temporarily closed during a planned march to Parliament protesting alleged irregularities and paper leaks in examinations. That demonstration saw a large turnout of students and opposition leaders, significantly impacting traffic flow.
