UP Government Approves ₹300 Crore for Smart School Initiative

The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has taken a significant step towards modernizing education by approving a ₹300 crore fund to equip 14,429 primary schools across the state with advanced digital learning facilities.

This crucial decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, aiming to enhance the quality of education in both rural and urban areas. Each selected primary school will receive an average grant of approximately ₹2.07 lakh (₹2,07,910) for developing digital infrastructure.

Smart Classrooms and Digital Learning Implementation

Under this ambitious project, smart classrooms will be established in all identified 14,429 primary schools in a phased manner. These classrooms will be equipped with high-speed internet connectivity to ensure easy access to online educational content and resources.

Furthermore, ICT labs will be set up to familiarize students with Information and Communication Technology. The plan also includes providing digital books, e-learning tools, and a well-equipped digital library to enrich the learning experience and boost student engagement.

Shreton India Limited Appointed as Implementation Agency

The Uttar Pradesh government has appointed Shreton India Limited as the implementation agency for this comprehensive 'Smart School' project. This company will be responsible for executing the work through a transparent tender process, ensuring the optimal use of funds for building the best quality infrastructure.

Uttar Pradesh's Continued Progress in Digital Education

This initiative is part of the state government's ongoing commitment to expanding digital tools in the basic education sector. Currently, Uttar Pradesh already operates smart classes in over 32,000 schools, ICT labs in more than 15,000 schools, and digital libraries in 1,129 schools.

To empower teachers digitally, over 2.61 lakh tablets have been distributed across the state. This new investment marks a significant milestone in establishing Uttar Pradesh as a leading digital education hub.
