Joint Strategy for Cybercrime, Narco Networks, and Organized Crime

The 13th West Zone Police Coordination Committee meeting, held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, saw police chiefs from seven states and two union territories convene to develop a unified strategy. Key issues addressed included cybercrime, drug trafficking networks, organized crime, and security arrangements for the upcoming Simhastha-2028 event.

The primary objective of this meeting was to strengthen inter-state cooperation in effectively combating cross-border criminal activities. The conference, chaired by Director General of Police Shri Kailash Makwana, took place on Friday at the Brilliant Convention Centre and was attended by top police officials from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

Discussions focused on the challenges posed by the evolving criminal landscape and measures to enhance coordination among states. The meeting emphasized the importance of real-time intelligence sharing to effectively tackle inter-state crimes, agreeing to maintain continuous contact and appoint nodal officers for regular reviews.

Focus on Simhastha-2028 Security and Cybercrime Prevention

Several critical issues were discussed, with the security and management of the upcoming grand religious event, Simhastha-2028, being a paramount concern. Additionally, detailed deliberations covered the swift search for missing children, the rising incidence of cybercrimes, curbing organized crime, utilizing modern technologies in policing, and coordinated actions against illegal narcotics and narco-chemical networks.

Joint Operations Planned Against Narco Networks

The conference particularly stressed the need for joint action against the illegal manufacturing, transportation, and use of narco-chemicals. It was decided that the concerned states would soon develop a joint action plan and conduct special joint operations to dismantle these networks effectively.

Furthermore, a decision was made to establish coordination between the police department and the higher education and school education departments. This initiative aims to incorporate crucial subjects such as de-addiction, cyber security, women's safety, and road safety into various educational curricula to enhance youth awareness.

Database Sharing to Combat Organized Crime

To bolster efforts against organized crime and national and inter-state criminal gangs, a database of wanted and reward criminals from various states was shared. An agreement was also reached on conducting future joint exercises and coordinated actions against criminals, which is expected to aid in apprehending these gangs and dismantling their networks.

During the conference, police representatives from different states presented their successful case studies related to organized crime, women's safety, narcotics control, cybercrime, and the identification and arrest of criminals using technology. This sharing of experiences is anticipated to facilitate the dissemination of innovations and successes in the future.

Madhya Pradesh Police Innovations Applauded

Representatives from all states specially commended the various innovations developed and implemented by the Madhya Pradesh Police, including E-Evidence, E-Investigation, E-Rakshak, MedLEaPR, E-Summons, de-addiction campaigns, Safe Click, and Operation Muskaan. These initiatives were lauded as excellent models for effective policing.

Emphasis was also placed on strengthening technology-based policing by maximizing the use of various national portals and crime databases developed by the Government of India.

Next Meeting in Goa

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was unanimously decided that the 14th West Zone Police Coordination Committee meeting would be hosted by the Goa Police. This conference marked a significant step forward in inter-state cooperation, information sharing, and joint action in the western region, sending a clear message that cybercrime, organized crime, narco networks, and other inter-state challenges will be effectively countered through modern technology, enhanced coordination, and a shared strategy.
