The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on August 28, 2026, the much-awaited results for the UGC NET June 2026 examination, covering 84 subjects. A significant number of candidates, totalling over 1.47 lakh, have successfully qualified in this crucial exam, paving the way for their pursuit of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and Assistant Professor positions across Indian universities.

The examination, conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT) mode, took place across 655 examination centres spanning 286 cities. Originally scheduled for multiple dates between June 22 and July 05, 2026, the NTA has also announced that re-examinations for three subjects – English, Commerce, and Sociology – are slated for September 09 and September 10, 2026. Candidates for these subjects will need to wait for their final scorecards until after these re-tests are completed.

Record Numbers Emerge from NET June 2026

For the 84 subjects where results have been declared, a substantial 7,73,806 candidates registered, with 6,07,151 actually appearing for the examination. The NTA has confirmed that a total of 4,241 candidates qualified for both JRF and Assistant Professor. Additionally, 45,904 candidates have qualified for Assistant Professor and admission to PhD programs, while a further 97,434 candidates have qualified solely for PhD admission.

Answer Key Challenges Processed for Final Results

The NTA had previously made available the question papers, provisional answer keys, and recorded responses for the 84 subjects on its official website from August 16 to August 18, 2026. This period allowed candidates to raise objections and challenges. Following the review of these challenges by subject matter experts, the final answer keys were determined, and the results were subsequently processed based on these verified keys, as stated in the NTA's press release.

Scorecard Access and Verification Procedures

Qualified candidates from the 84 subjects can now access, download, and print their official scorecards directly from the UGC NET website. The NTA emphasized that the eligibility criteria, self-declaration, and other necessary documents of the successful candidates will undergo verification by the respective authorities, strictly adhering to the guidelines outlined in the UGC NET June 2026 information bulletin.

Candidates from English, Commerce, and Sociology, whose exams are being re-conducted, are advised that attempting to access their scorecards before the re-examination might result in an "Invalid Application Number/Password" notification. Their final results and scorecards will be released only after the conclusion of the re-examinations on September 09 and September 10, 2026.
