Gwalior, August 8, 2026 – A mobile snatching incident in Gwalior city on Saturday was foiled by the quick thinking and courage of two twin sisters. In the Padav police station area, a motorcycle-borne assailant attempted to flee after snatching a mobile phone.

However, the sisters gave chase on their scooter and, upon getting caught in traffic, rammed their vehicle into the thief's motorcycle. The impact sent the thief tumbling onto the road, where the sisters promptly apprehended him. The police, arriving shortly thereafter, arrested the accused and recovered the stolen mobile.

Sisters' Swift Pursuit and Apprehension

The incident occurred when Arshita and Rashita Agarwal, law students residing in CP Colony, Murar, were en route to college on their scooter. As they neared the new bridge in the Padav area on Saturday afternoon, a youth on a motorcycle sped up from behind and snatched the mobile from Rashita, who was seated at the back, before attempting to escape towards Phoolbagh.

Despite the suddenness of the event, the sisters did not panic. Instead, they immediately pursued the thief. The thief tried to accelerate away on his motorcycle, but was soon obstructed by a traffic jam ahead.

Strategic Takedown and Public Assistance

Trapped in the jam on the road leading to Phoolbagh, the thief's speed significantly reduced. Seizing this opportunity, Arshita and Rashita skillfully maneuvered their scooter and collided with the rear of the thief's motorcycle. The collision caused the rider to fall onto the road.

The twin sisters immediately pinned him down and prevented his escape. A crowd soon gathered, and upon learning of the theft, onlookers assisted the sisters in restraining the thief until the police arrived. The Padav police were alerted via Dial-112 and reached the scene promptly, taking the accused into custody and recovering the snatched mobile phone.

Accused Identified, Criminal Background Under Investigation

Preliminary investigations revealed the apprehended thief to be Manpreet, a native of Punjab who was currently working as a food delivery agent in Gwalior. The police are actively investigating his criminal history and have contacted Punjab Police for any relevant records.

Authorities are also trying to ascertain if Manpreet had committed similar crimes in Gwalior previously and if he had any accomplices. This investigation aims to uncover other potential criminal activities in the city.

Police officials emphasized that the sisters not only prevented a serious crime through their vigilance and intelligence but also directly assisted the police in apprehending the offender, a highly commendable act.
