Traffic System Overhaul in Guna District

The administration in Guna district has initiated a significant undertaking to organize and ease the traffic system. A district-level joint meeting was held at the Collector's office to deliberate on crucial aspects concerning traffic, law and order, and the environment.

The meeting, presided over by Collector Kishor Kumar Kanyal, saw participation from Superintendent of Police Hithika Wasal, Zila Panchayat CEO Abhishek Dubey, various public representatives, and delegates from social organizations. It was acknowledged that addressing all of the city's traffic issues simultaneously is unfeasible. Therefore, the administration will develop a phased action plan based on priority.

Phased Action Plan and Focus Areas

Under this plan, consideration is being given to developing one of the city's main roads as an ideal route and establishing 'No-Vehicle Zones' in suitable locations. The initial focus for improvement work will be centered on the Jai Stambh intersection.

Traffic Police TI Ajay Pratap Singh presented a detailed overview of the current traffic situation. During the discussion, the Jai Stambh intersection was proposed as the starting point for improvement initiatives. Particular concern was raised regarding traffic obstructions caused by auto-rickshaws.

Addressing Auto-Rickshaw Issues and Public Participation

In light of auto-drivers parking vehicles in two rows on roads and picking up passengers directly from the carriageway, the administration will work towards identifying authorized auto-parking sites. Collector Kishor Kumar Kanyal emphasized that all suggestions will be thoroughly examined, and relevant areas will be inspected on-site.

He further stated that public participation and the role of volunteers are extremely important in improving the city's systems. The Collector expressed confidence that collective efforts will make it possible to provide better civic amenities in the city. The administration is preparing to take concrete steps in the coming times to implement these proposals on the ground.
