Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a crucial high-level meeting with Union government secretaries in New Delhi on Thursday, extensively emphasizing key areas such as good governance, self-reliance, and cybersecurity to achieve the goal of a 'Developed India'.

The meeting, held at his official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, involved a thorough review of future action plans from various ministries and departments. Detailed discussions took place regarding the priorities, progress, and upcoming strategies of ministries related to finance, economy, commerce, industry, and technology.

Fostering Team Spirit and Eliminating Bureaucratic Hurdles

During the meeting, the Prime Minister called upon officials to foster a strong team spirit among ministries and departments. He stressed that all government departments must work together with a shared objective and a coordinated approach.

To ensure this synergy, he highlighted the need to eliminate both horizontal and vertical functional barriers within the administrative system, thereby ensuring the effective and timely implementation of schemes.

People-Centric Governance and Innovation

Prime Minister Modi reiterated that every government policy and decision must be centered around the nation's citizens. He clarified that people-centric good governance is the government's paramount priority, and every decision should be made keeping in mind the aspirations and interests of ordinary citizens.

This approach ensures that government efforts contribute to the well-being and development of people at the grassroots level. He also specifically emphasized that while India is investing heavily in infrastructure development, equal importance must be given to the development of indigenous technologies and technological self-reliance in critical sectors.

The Prime Minister particularly stressed strengthening domestic capabilities and promoting innovation to position India as a technological leader globally.

Energy Security and Self-Reliance Imperative

Viewing energy security as an integral part of national security and economic stability, the Prime Minister stated that India must accelerate innovation, diversify energy sources, and enhance capacity building to become self-reliant in the energy sector.

According to him, energy self-reliance is not only crucial for the welfare of citizens but also forms the bedrock of long-term economic growth. Concrete steps need to be taken to ensure rapid progress in this sector.

Continuous Improvement and Results-Oriented Approach

The Prime Minister described reforms not as a temporary trend or fashion, but as a continuous necessity for effective governance. He urged officials to adopt a results-oriented approach, emphasizing continuous improvement in work processes, a better work culture, and strengthening institutional efficiency.

He believes this continuity and efficiency will make the government machinery more effective and accountable, leading to better outcomes for citizens.

Cybersecurity: A National Campaign with Public Participation

In the context of employment and skill development, the Prime Minister stressed the need for developing new academic curricula aligned with the requirements of future industries. For this, he highlighted the necessity of developing a strong partnership between industry and academic institutions.

He concluded by stating that the government must always remain young, dynamic, innovative, and visionary to rapidly adapt to changing global circumstances and new challenges. Secretaries from various ministries presented detailed briefings on their departments' achievements, priorities, challenges, and future action plans. The Cabinet Secretary, secretaries from key ministries and departments, and senior officials from the Prime Minister's Office also participated in this important review meeting.

This high-level review meeting is being seen as a significant initiative to strengthen the government's long-term strategy in key areas such as administrative coordination, good governance, technological self-reliance, energy security, skill development, and cybersecurity, all directed towards the goal of a 'Developed India'.
