SUCI Protests Against Price Hikes and Privatization

The Aaron unit of the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) - SUCI(C) held a protest at the Tehsil intersection in local Ambedkar Park on August 25, 2026. Party workers voiced their opposition to escalating inflation, the privatization of public sector undertakings, bus fare hikes, and the displacement of people under the guise of beautification.

The demonstrators proceeded to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office to submit a memorandum. Party office secretary Mahendra Nayak, addressing the gathering, stated that the government is continually privatizing public sectors such as education, health, electricity, and railways. This not only reduces employment opportunities but also exacerbates severe unemployment. Furthermore, prices of essential commodities like sugar, pulses, and refined oil are constantly being increased.

Allegations of Displacement in the Name of Development

Mahendra Nayak accused the government of ruthlessly demolishing slums in the name of development and beautification. He alleged that houses, shops, carts, and roadside stalls are being destroyed, forcing people and their young children onto the streets. He asserted that this is being done by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to benefit a select few industrialists and capitalists.

The party stated that the capitalist system of governance cannot be controlled solely through elections, as opposition parties are also part of this system and serve capitalists reliably. When they were in power, their policies were also destructive and pro-capitalist. SUCI(C) believes that the only way forward is to call for a people's movement by forming grassroots committees to address the various problems faced by the public.

The protest was also addressed by Rajmal and Nilesh Bairagi, with Hazrat conducting the proceedings. The SUCI party has called for a major people's movement in the capital, Bhopal, on October 8, to address the issues affecting daily life.
