Sanchi Murder Case Cracked: Businessman's Killing Linked to Unrequited Love and Mistaken Identity

The Raisen district police have successfully solved the murder of hardware businessman Rakesh Lodhi, which occurred on the night of July 25th in the Sanchi police station area. The police have apprehended the main conspirator along with two other accused and a juvenile offender within 48 hours of the incident.

Initial investigations indicate that the murder stemmed from unrequited love and a case of mistaken identity, with the assailants' primary target being the victim's brother, Bhagwandas Lodhi. The incident took place around 9:40 PM on July 25, 2026, as Rakesh Lodhi was returning to his village, Merki, by motorcycle with his brother, Bablesh Lodhi, after closing his hardware shop.

Near the Salamatpur crossroads, attackers who were lying in wait stopped their motorcycle and launched a swift, brutal assault with sharp swords. Rakesh Lodhi sustained severe injuries and died on the spot, while the perpetrators fled the scene.

The Story of Mistaken Identity and Unrequited Love

Given the gravity of the crime, a special investigation team was formed under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Gupta. The team meticulously examined the crime scene, reviewed CCTV footage, gathered technical evidence, and identified suspects with the help of informants.

During interrogation, the main accused, Golu alias Dhirendra Pal, made a startling confession. He revealed his unrequited love for the wife of the victim's brother, Bhagwandas Lodhi. The accused stated that he harbored animosity towards Bhagwandas ever since his marriage to the woman and planned to murder him. It was as part of this plan that he, along with his associates, lay in wait to attack Bhagwandas.

However, due to the darkness and a case of mistaken identity, they attacked Rakesh Lodhi instead of Bhagwandas, leading to his death from sword wounds at the scene.

Police Action and Recovery

Following the accused's leads, police have recovered the sword used in the murder, along with other crucial evidence. A case has been registered against the main conspirator, Golu alias Dhirendra Pal, and his associate, Babu alias Prinsraj, under sections related to murder and criminal conspiracy. The juvenile offender is facing necessary action under the Juvenile Justice Act.

Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing, and based on the information obtained from the accused, other potential angles are also being thoroughly examined. The resolution of this blind murder within 48 hours is considered a significant success for the police department.
