Major Road Project Gets Green Light in Balrampur

A significant piece of good news has emerged for Balrampur district. The state government has provided financial approval of Rs 75 crore 7 lakh for the widening and strengthening of the important Utrala-Pachperwa-Chandanpur road in the Gasdi assembly constituency. This road is considered the lifeline of the region, and its dilapidated condition had been causing considerable inconvenience to residents.

The total cost for this project has been set at Rs 75,07,06,000, which includes Rs 73 crore 34 lakh for construction work and Rs 1 crore 72 lakh for road maintenance over the next five years. An initial installment of Rs 3 crore 66 lakh 72 thousand has also been released from the State Road Fund for the financial year 2026-27.

Former MLA's Efforts Lead to Road Revitalization

Former MLA Shailesh Kumar Singh 'Shailu' made special efforts for this crucial road project. He had urged the Chief Minister in a letter on December 9, 2024, to prioritize the construction of this road. Singh stated that the construction of this road will not only ease commuting but also give new momentum to the region's economic development.

This road is part of a major 70-kilometer stretch connecting Gonda-Balrampur to the Nepal border. This is a historic achievement for the region's residents, long awaited. The improvement of this road will benefit not only local people but also boost commercial activities. Notably, its strategic importance increases due to its proximity to Nepal.

Renovation of Road Connecting to Nepal Border

The Utrala-Pachperwa-Chandanpur road, which directly connects Gonda-Balrampur to the Nepal border, is extremely important for this region. A section of this 70-kilometer road, approximately 22 kilometers, had already been constructed. However, the condition of the remaining part was extremely poor, making travel extremely difficult.

The dilapidated road also posed a risk of accidents and caused significant problems for freight vehicles. The Public Works Department has scheduled the remaining widening and strengthening work for this road on September 13. Following this approval, the project is expected to move forward rapidly.

This step has brought great relief to the residents of the region, who have been demanding better road connectivity for years. The approval of this project will bolster the overall development of Balrampur district, not just the Gasdi assembly constituency. Better roads promote tourism, trade, and agriculture, strengthening the local economy. Additionally, this road will improve the quality of life for the region's people and connect them better to the national mainstream.
