Allegations of Cow Meat Smuggling Lead to Arrests

In Rewa, police have arrested two young women on suspicion of smuggling cow meat. The authorities have confiscated the suspected meat and have sent it for laboratory examination.

The incident unfolded on Sunday in Lohi village, within the jurisdiction of the Saman police station. The arrested individuals have been identified as Muskan Khan, 23, and Rubia Khan, 20, both hailing from Amirti village in the Govindgarh police station area.

Villagers Intercept Suspects, Violence Erupts

According to TI Manisha Upadhyay, villagers had harbored suspicions about the two women smuggling beef for some time. On Sunday, when they observed the women traveling on a scooter, villagers attempted to intercept them.

Instead of stopping, the women reportedly swerved their scooter towards the Lohi canal. A chase ensued, during which the scooter skidded and fell. In an attempt to evade capture, Muskan and Rubiya allegedly discarded the suspected meat into the canal.

Stone Attack Injures Villager

Following the discarding of the meat, the women are reported to have thrown stones at the pursuing villagers. A stone struck Anand Singh Baghel, identified as a farmer and a worker of a Hindu organisation, inflicting a serious head injury.

Villagers managed to surround and apprehend both women before alerting the police. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers retrieved the suspected meat from the canal. The Samaan police station will now proceed with further investigations and actions.
