Investigation Stalemate Raises Questions of Negligence and Collusion

Sagar, August 25, 2026 – The investigation into alleged irregularities at a government fair price shop in Bhainsa village, within Sagar district's Naryawali assembly constituency, has stalled. A committee formed 3.5 months ago to probe the accusations has yet to submit its report, even after two and a half months have passed. This delay has fueled speculation in political circles regarding administrative negligence and potential collusion.

The investigation committee was constituted on June 2, 2026, by the Additional Collector and Additional District Magistrate of Sagar. The committee comprised the Naib Tehsildar of Sagar as its chairperson, with the Assistant Supply Officer and a Revenue Inspector as members. The order explicitly directed the committee to complete its investigation and submit its findings within just two days.

Former Minister Slams Delay, Alleges Ration Mafia Activity

Former Madhya Pradesh Minister Surendra Choudhary has termed the delay as highly unfortunate. He stated that the continued non-investigation of the Bhainsa fair price shop, despite the Additional Collector forming a committee, points to serious administrative laxity. Choudhary suggested this situation also indicates a nexus between the Food Department and the ration mafia.

The former minister alleged that the ration mafia is actively operating in the home district of the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, fearlessly black-marketing the ration meant for the poor. He emphasized that it is unacceptable for poor families to be denied their rightful share of rations while black-marketing continues.

Choudhary has demanded an impartial investigation into the alleged collusion between the ration mafia and responsible officials and employees of the Food Department. He also called for stringent legal action against those found guilty.

Demands for Action and Warning Issued

Mr. Choudhary urged the district administration to take action against the investigation committee for failing to comply with the order dated June 2, 2026. He also highlighted the need to investigate other government fair price shops in the district to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive their food grains on time and in full quantity.

The former minister issued a stark warning: if the administration does not expedite the investigation, take action against the guilty, and halt the black-marketing of essential rations, the Congress party will take to the streets in protest to fight for the rights of the poor and eligible beneficiaries. He placed the entire responsibility for the current situation squarely on the district administration.
