Immediately after the 'Anti-Paper Leak Bill' was passed in Lok Sabha, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a sharp attack on the central government. Addressing a press conference at the Parliament premises, Rahul Gandhi alleged that he was not given sufficient opportunity to raise important student issues in the House.

He demanded accountability from Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the alleged use of pellet guns during a student protest in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi stated that as the leader of the opposition, it is his constitutional right to raise issues concerning the public, especially students. However, he claimed he was prevented from completing his statement in the House.

He emphasized that Parliament is the supreme forum for democracy and that the government has a responsibility to listen to the opposition's voice. If the opposition is not given an opportunity to speak, the democratic process will be weakened. This forces him to convey his message through the media outside Parliament.

Allegation of Being Deprived of Speaking Opportunities in Parliament

During the press conference, Rahul Gandhi expressed his disappointment that he wanted to raise the issue of alleged mistreatment and police action against students during the discussion on the 'Anti-Paper Leak Bill', but he did not get adequate time. He stated that attempts are being made to suppress the voice of the opposition in the House.

He believes that such actions not only undermine democratic values but also weaken the government's accountability. He presented five photographs to support his claims, asserting that severe force was used on students protesting peacefully just 500 meters from Parliament House.

Questioning the Government on Use of Force Against Students

He directly accused the use of pellet guns and demanded an impartial inquiry into the entire incident. According to him, these students were raising their voices against alleged irregularities in their future and recruitment exams, but they were treated like criminals, which is unacceptable in any democratic system.

Targeting Home Minister Amit Shah, Rahul Gandhi revealed that he had written a letter to Amit Shah on July 25 regarding this matter. He also claimed that the Home Minister is regularly informed about the activities of the Delhi Police, and he himself had seen Amit Shah discussing this issue with police officials.

Based on this, Rahul Gandhi questioned why no action was taken if the Home Minister was aware of the alleged use of pellet guns. If he had no information about this, it raises a serious question mark on his responsibilities in office. Rahul Gandhi stated in strong words, “If Amit Shah ordered the use of pellet guns, he must answer. If he was unaware of it, then he has no right to remain the Home Minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should remove him from his post.”

He also demanded that the officials responsible for the use of force against students be identified and strict action be taken against them. He reiterated his wish to present his opinion on the 'Anti-Paper Leak Bill' in Lok Sabha but reiterated that he did not get enough time.

Objection Raised on 'Anti-Paper Leak Bill'

He stated that merely enacting laws will not solve the problem of paper leaks. It requires transparency, accountability, and institutional reforms in recruitment processes. He accused the government of trying to send a political message through laws instead of addressing the root problems.

It is noteworthy that the Lok Sabha proceedings were disrupted several times on Wednesday due to opposition protests. After the House was adjourned in the morning, the 'Anti-Paper Leak Bill' was discussed in the afternoon and passed by voice vote after a long debate. Immediately after the bill was passed, Rahul Gandhi held a press conference in the Parliament premises and reiterated serious allegations against the government.

The allegations made by Rahul Gandhi regarding the use of pellet guns and the Home Minister's knowledge are his public statements. The situation will become clearer only after an official response from the concerned party to these allegations is received.
