Guru Purnima Celebrated at Pioneer Public School

Pioneer Public School & College, an English medium institution in Balrampur city, celebrated the auspicious festival of Guru Purnima with great enthusiasm on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. The event was attended by the school's Managing Director, Dr. M.P. Tiwari, Principal Kumari Ragini, Vice-Principal Shikha Pandey, and all the teachers.

Significance of Gurus Emphasized

During the program, Managing Director Dr. M.P. Tiwari spoke to the students about the importance of gurus. He highlighted that in India, teachers are highly revered, as it is a guru who guides a disciple on the right path. He also explained the historical and cultural significance of Guru Purnima.

“The place of a guru is even higher than God, because it is the guru who paves the way to meet God.”

Dr. Tiwari explained that the festival is celebrated as the birthday of the great sage Maharishi Ved Vyas, the composer of revered texts like the Mahabharata, Shrimad Bhagwat, and the eighteen Puranas. According to scriptures, Maharishi Ved Vyas was born on Ashadha Purnima, hence Guru Purnima is observed on this day. He underscored the importance of a guru, referencing a couplet by Kabir Das: ‘Guru Gobind dou khade, kaake lagoo paay. Balihaari guru aapki, Gobind diyo milaay.’ This means that a guru’s role is paramount as they facilitate spiritual realization.

School Resonates with Cultural Programs and Art

A special cultural program and a drawing competition were organized at the school for Guru Purnima. Students presented devotional songs in tribute to their gurus. A group dance was performed to bhajans like ‘Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Deva Maheshwara’ by Ashi Yadav, Shraddha Yadav, Shraddha Tiwari, Avantika Chaudhary, and Srishti Shukla. Another captivating performance was a song titled ‘Mujhe Is Duniya Mein Aaya’ by Vani, Aakriti, Hadiya, Harshita, Shraddha, Sanvi, Sumaira, Umra, and Atharv, beautifully depicting the glory of gurus.

In the drawing competition, Yashvi Soni, Aradhya Mishra, Ekta Mittal, Kartik Saini, and S.K. Saurya showcased their artistic talent. Students also honored their teachers by decorating 'aarti' plates and performing 'aarti', symbolizing their affection and gratitude.

Managing Director Blesses Students

At the end of the program, Managing Director Dr. M.P. Tiwari blessed all the students and distributed sweets. He once again emphasized the significance of gurus and inspired students to always respect their teachers and follow the path shown by them. Principal Kumari Ragini, Vice-Principal Shikha Pandey, and all the teachers also contributed to the successful celebration of the festival.
