Patwaris' Strike Disrupts Tehsil Operations

The indefinite work boycott by the Uttar Pradesh Patwari Association in Balrampur's Sadar Tehsil has entered its fourth day on Thursday, bringing all operations at the tehsil to a complete standstill. This ongoing protest is causing significant hardship for the general public, particularly students, job aspirants, and beneficiaries of government schemes.

Approximately 500 certificates, including those for income, caste, and residency, are pending resolution due to the strike. Members and officials of the association are staging a continuous protest at the tehsil headquarters, demanding their five-point charter of demands be met.

Public Faces Severe Inconvenience

The disruption has halted the issuance of various certificates, impacting citizens who rely on these documents for essential purposes. The stalemate is also affecting other crucial revenue-related tasks, adding to the difficulties faced by the populace.

Key Demands of the Patwari Association

The Uttar Pradesh Patwari Association has put forth a five-point agenda. The primary demands include:

  • Immediate reinstatement of the suspended tehsil president.
  • Implementation of pending ACP (Assured Career Progression) benefits for eligible Patwaris.
  • Withdrawal of the clarification issued regarding the Farmer Registry.
  • Updating of GPF passbooks and service books.
  • Expedited payment of pending bills and arrears.

Suresh Tiwari, the tehsil president of the association, stated that no concrete decisions have been made regarding their demands, compelling the Patwaris to remain firm in their protest. A large number of Patwaris are participating, demonstrating their solidarity.

Impact on Citizens and Advocates

The Patwaris' strike is directly affecting ordinary citizens and legal advocates. Individuals awaiting certificates for various applications are making fruitless trips to the tehsil, facing disappointment. Lawyers are also experiencing obstacles in revenue-related work, leading to inconvenience for their clients.

There is a growing hope for an early resolution to this impasse to restore normalcy in public life.
