Newborn Suffers Fracture During Delivery at Elgin Hospital
A serious incident has emerged from Jabalpur's prestigious Elgin Hospital, where a newborn's hand bone was found fractured into two pieces during a Cesarean delivery. This event has raised serious questions about the hospital management's operational procedures.
The Jabalpur City Congress Committee has now urged the district administration to conduct an impartial investigation and take strict action against the culprits. Local Congress leaders submitted a memorandum to Additional Collector Mrs. Neeta Rathore regarding the incident.
Congress Alleges Negligence, Questions Sonography Report
The memorandum stated that after receiving information about the incident on September 18, 2026, Congress spokesperson Rizwan Ali Koti contacted the Chief Health and Medical Officer (CMHO) by phone. The Congress has completely rejected the CMHO's explanation that it was a normal delivery complication.
Congress alleges that the newborn's sonography report from September 17, 2026, did not mention any complications related to the delivery. Therefore, the fracture in the newborn's hand during delivery directly points to the negligence of the hospital management or the concerned doctors.
The family of the newborn has also accused the hospital management of gross negligence. The Congress's primary demands include a high-level inquiry into the matter by the district administration. If negligence or fault is found on the part of any doctor or hospital staff during the investigation, strict disciplinary action should be taken against them.
Additionally, Congress has urged for the arrangement of free treatment for the affected newborn and adequate compensation for the distressed family. Several other Congress workers, including Badal Panjwani, Ejaz Ansari, Kunal Bhatia, Adnan Ansari, Sikandar Khan, and Shafi Khan, were present during the submission of the memorandum.
Administration Promises Investigation
The administration, understanding the gravity of the situation, has assured that an investigation will be conducted. All eyes are now on the findings of the investigation and the actions to be taken by the administration, to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
