Minister Rajput Champions Local Markets This Diwali

Madhya Pradesh Minister Govind Singh Rajput, responsible for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection, initiated a unique gesture this Diwali. He, along with his family, visited the local market in Deori town of the Surkhi assembly constituency to purchase essential items for the festival.

This initiative serves as an exemplary model for citizens, offering crucial economic support to local small traders and artisans. Minister Rajput emphasized that Diwali is not just about lighting lamps but also about bringing prosperity into the lives of nearby small businesses.

"Purchasing from local markets not only strengthens the region's economy but also creates new employment opportunities," stated Minister Rajput, urging residents to prioritize indigenous products during the festive season.

'Vocal for Local' as a Mass Movement

Minister Rajput described the 'Vocal for Local' call as a public movement, essential for realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India). He highlighted that India's dream of self-reliance can only be achieved when citizens embrace local and indigenous goods.

He specifically urged the purchase of items made by potters and handicraftsmen to encourage these traditional artisans. The Madhya Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, is continuously working to promote small industries and local trade within the state.

"Supporting local vendors, from clay lamps to decorative items, is the duty of every citizen," the minister reiterated. He called on all citizens to pledge to shop exclusively from local markets this Diwali, spreading light and joy into the homes of small traders.
