Ayurveda Day Observed in Damoh
On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, a significant event was organized at the Ayush Hospital located in the district headquarters to mark National Ayurveda Day. The primary objective was to disseminate the importance of Ayurveda, encourage healthy lifestyles, and discuss effective Ayurvedic measures for disease prevention.
Community Health Camp a Success
A health camp held during the event saw a large turnout of local residents. Medical experts conducted health check-ups and provided essential consultations. Free Ayurvedic medicines were also distributed to needy patients.
Event Commences with Traditional Rituals
The program began with the lighting of a lamp before a portrait of Lord Dhanvantari by District Ayush Officer Dr. Rajkumar Patel and chief speaker Dr. L.N. Vaishnav. Several dignitaries, including retired DSP Mahendra Jain, Ramesh Thakur, Dr. Brijesh Kulpariya, Dr. Anant Ram Patel, and Dr. Priyanka Jain, were present.
Ayurveda Day: A New Date, Renewed Purpose
According to the Ministry of Ayush, Ayurveda Day was first celebrated in 2016, traditionally on Dhanteras. However, the Government of India officially designated September 23 annually for this observance starting from 2025. This change aims to make Ayurveda more accessible and an integral part of healthy living for the general public.
Ayurveda as a Holistic Health System
Medical experts at the health camp emphasized that Ayurveda is not just a treatment method but also promotes a holistic, balanced, and disciplined lifestyle. They provided detailed information on healthy living, proper diet, and disease prevention.
Community Engagement and Future Commitments
Participants appreciated the initiative and understood the importance of regular health check-ups. The camp concluded with a commitment to incorporating Ayurvedic principles into daily life. The department pledged to organize similar health camps regularly in the future.
