YouTube star MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, has defended his latest video, “Would You Risk Dying for $500,000”, after criticism over its seemingly dangerous stunts. The clip, featuring a professional stuntman navigating fiery explosions and escaping a burning building while collecting cash, has drawn concern online for potentially encouraging viewers to mimic the dangerous acts.

Responding to backlash, Donaldson emphasized that safety was a top priority: “We had ventilation for the smoke, a kill switch to cut off the fires, and professionals tested this extensively. The guy in the video is a professional stuntman. I take safety more serious than you could ever imagine.”

The video, posted Saturday, has already amassed over 45 million views. The contestant, a professional stuntman, completed seven staged “death traps” and earned $350,000 (£260,000), planning to help his retired parents with the prize. A pinned comment clarified that pyro specialists controlled all fires, with multiple suppression systems in place, none of which were ultimately needed.
