Significant Action Underway Against Illegal Liquor Trade

In a significant development under the 'Distance from Intoxication is Necessary 2.0' campaign, a major operation was conducted in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district. Acting on confidential information received by Collector Kirodilal Meena, District Excise Officer Mahesh Gaud was promptly ordered to take action.

Illicit Liquor Cache Recovered

In compliance with the Collector's directives, the excise department launched a raid on a shop located near Bilav Mod on the Bhind-Lahor Road. This action is a crucial step towards making the state a drug-free zone, with continuous checking and raids being conducted across various districts. Collector Meena has emphasized stringent action against the sale and consumption of illicit liquor to protect youth from its ill effects and foster peace in society.

Suspect Apprehended, Large Quantity of Liquor Seized

Under the leadership of District Excise Officer Mahesh Gaud, Circle Officer Krishnakant Sharma and his team conducted a surprise raid on a suspicious shop near Bilav Mod. During the operation, the shop operator, Gaurav Singh Rajawat, was caught red-handed. A thorough search revealed a substantial quantity of illegal liquor being sold without any license or permit.

Details of Seized Liquor

  • 13.68 bulk liters (BL) of country liquor
  • 13.69 bulk liters (BL) of foreign liquor (whiskey)
  • Beer worth ₹10

This recovery indicates a thriving illegal liquor business in the area. The department prepared an inventory of the seized liquor and took possession for further legal proceedings, recognizing that such sales not only harm revenue but also pose a serious threat to public health and safety.

Case Registered Under Excise Act

The administration has taken this matter seriously, registering a case against the accused Gaurav Singh Rajawat under Section 34(1) of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915. This section deals with offenses related to the illegal manufacturing, possession, or sale of liquor without a license, with penalties including imprisonment and fines.

Police and Excise Department Collaboration

The police and excise department are collaborating to ensure strict action against offenders, aiming to deter criminals and dismantle the illicit liquor network. This operation underscores the administration's commitment to making the district free from intoxication.

Commendable Role of Excise Constables

The roles of Excise Constables Dharmendra Bhadauria and Rajnath Maurya were particularly noteworthy in executing this successful operation, from information gathering to the raid itself. Their diligence and alertness were instrumental in seizing the illicit liquor and apprehending the suspect. The prompt and decisive action by the excise department, in line with the Collector's clear directives, is being lauded as a testament to effective governance.

Future Actions Expected

The administration anticipates continued intensive and effective actions under this campaign to liberate Bhind district from the curse of substance abuse. This successful operation demonstrates that swift action on intelligence can effectively curb illegal activities.
