Guru Purnima Celebrated with Devotion at Shri Jamat Temple
The Cliff News | July 29, 2026 - The festival of Guru Purnima was celebrated with traditional reverence and gaiety today, July 29, 2026, at the Shri Jamat Temple in the city. On this auspicious occasion, the current Mahant, Shri Deependra Ji 'Khaki', bestowed guru diksha (initiation) upon his hundreds of disciples.
This celebration upholds a tradition that has continued since the time of the late Shri Shri 1008 Mahant Shri Nandram Das Ji Maharaj 'Khaki', a legacy now being carried forward by Mahant Shri Deependra Ji Maharaj. Guru Purnima, also known as Vyas Purnima, is a significant festival in Sanatan Dharma, dedicated to expressing gratitude and reverence towards gurus.
Gurus serve as conduits guiding disciples from darkness to light and from ignorance to knowledge, illuminating their path towards wisdom and self-realization.
Guru Diksha and Samadhi Puja
The Guru Purnima festivities commenced today at 8:30 AM with the Charan Paduka Puja at the samadhi sthal (mausoleum) of the Gurudev. Following this, from 10:00 AM onwards, Mahant Shri Deependra Ji Maharaj began the process of imparting guru diksha to disciples.
By 2:00 PM, numerous disciples, including Kumari Preeti Shukla, Smt. Oogal Kanwar, Smt. Madhu Sahu, Smt. Nikita Sahu, Smt. Reena Gupta, Smt. Heerawati, Smt. Rajni Mewad, Smt. Jenu Kanwar, Smt. Chandrprabha Parmar, Hardik Sen, Sachin Sahu, Anuj Sahu, Aaradhya Sahu, and Mukesh Jatav, received their initiation.
Large Gathering of Devotees and Blessings
The culmination of days of preparation was evident today at the temple premises, where thousands of devotees offered darshan of Thakur Ji. Devotees paid their respects at the samadhi sthal of the revered Gurudev and received blessings from the current Mahant, Shri Deependra Ji.
Guru devotees from various regions such as Bhopal, Mandideep, Raisen, Vidisha, Ujjain, Sehore, Talen, Kurawar, Biaora, Rajgarh, Bada Bairasiya, Chhota Bairasiya, Sanwasi, Dhamdhondar, Bandi, and Andhalheda received blessings from Mahant Shri Deependra Das Ji.
Prasad Distribution and Arrangements
At 7:00 PM, following the Aarti of Thakur Ji, all devotees were seated in queues and served the Prasad of Thakur Ji's offerings. The successful arrangement of this grand event was accomplished through the collective contribution of Gurudev's disciples.
