Kremlin Rejects Intel Deal Report

Moscow has denied a media report alleging that it offered to halt intelligence sharing with Iran. This proposal, according to Politico, was contingent on the US ceasing intelligence support to Ukraine.

The report claimed that Kirill Dmitriev, a Russian envoy, presented the proposal during a meeting with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Miami.

The US, a key intelligence provider to Ukraine since the February 2022 invasion, reportedly rejected the offer.

Denials and Counter-Accusations

Dmitriev dismissed the report as "fake" in a post on X. Republican lawmaker Anna Paulina Luna criticized Politico, calling it a "mouthpiece for the pro-war machine in Ukraine."

She further stated they have "no access to the White House or to any information regarding internal discussions or peace talks with Russia."

Past Allegations of Russian-Iranian Intel Sharing

Earlier this month, The Washington Post reported that Russia had shared sensitive intelligence with Iran, including the locations of US warships and aircraft in the Middle East. The Kremlin also denied this report.

The White House stated that former President Donald Trump would not be "happy" if Russia was sharing intelligence with Iran during the Middle East war.

 

"The president and his special envoy (Steve) Witkoff have both said that, of course, they've sent a message to Russia that if that was taking place, it's not something they would be happy with, and they hope that it is not taking place,"

said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

 

Trump downplayed the significance of Russia potentially providing Iran with information targeting US military personnel. He told reporters on March 8 that if Iran is receiving information, it "is not helping them much.""

Witkoff, who has engaged in talks with both Russia and Iran, suggested trusting Moscow's denial of intelligence sharing with Tehran.

"I'm not an intel officer, so I can't tell you,"

he said.
