Karunadham Ashram in Bhopal Concludes Three-Day Guru Purnima Festival
Bhopal's Karunadham Ashram celebrated Guru Purnima with spiritual ceremonies, new disciple initiations, and social initiatives.

Guru Purnima Celebrated with Devotion at Karunadham Ashram
The festival of Guru Purnima was celebrated with immense devotion and reverence at Karunadham Ashram in Bhopal on July 29, 2026. During the three-day festival, the Ashram's pontiff, Gurudev Shri Sudesh Ji Shandilya Maharaj, initiated 55 new devotees with Guru Mantra.
The Ashram Administrator, Shri Shashwat Shandilya, stated that various religious and social programs were organized to mark the occasion. Among the events held on Guru Purnima, the 'Charan-Pujan' (worship of feet) and 'Bhajan Sandhya' (devotional singing) were particularly noteworthy.
“Parents are the first gurus in the world, and obeying them is akin to worshipping a guru,” stated Gurudev Shri Shandilya Maharaj during his discourse.
Gurudev Shri Shandilya Maharaj encouraged the attending devotees to take a pledge towards environmental conservation and emphasized the importance of social service. He highlighted the significant role of parents as the primary guides in life.
Diverse Events Mark the Three-Day Celebration
The Guru Purnima celebrations at Karunadham Ashram spanned three days, encompassing a multitude of significant activities. These events included the inauguration of a new meditation center, a book launch, collective meditation sessions, a tree-planting drive, special service sessions, 'Abhishek', recitation of 'Guru Gita', a palanquin procession, 'Paduka Pujan' (worship of sandals), and 'Havan-Pujan' (fire rituals).
The overarching aim of these diverse events was to foster spiritual growth alongside awakening social and environmental consciousness. Guru Purnima, also known as Vyas Purnima, is observed on the full moon day of the Ashadha month according to the Hindu calendar. This day symbolizes the expression of respect towards spiritual gurus and those who impart knowledge. Karunadham Ashram in Bhopal grandly celebrated this auspicious occasion through various activities, with a large number of devotees participating.
