Kangana Ranaut's 'Gen Z' Remark Sparks Nationwide Congress Protests, Demand for Apology
The Congress party has initiated nationwide protests demanding a public apology from BJP MP Kangana Ranaut for her controversial remarks targeting 'Gen Z' youth.

Political Controversy Erupts Over 'Gen Z' Statement
A political storm has erupted following an allegedly controversial statement made by BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut regarding 'Gen Z' young women. In protest, Mahila Congress (Women's Congress) workers staged strong demonstrations on Wednesday in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, and Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.
Protests Intensify, Demands for Unconditional Apology
During the protests, effigies of Kangana Ranaut were burned, slogans were chanted, and her statement was strongly condemned. The demonstrators demanded an unconditional public apology from the actress to the nation's daughters and the public. In Ranchi, protesters led by Jharkhand Pradesh Mahila Congress President Rama Khalkho accused Ranaut of spreading discord in society, hurting the dignity of women, and making statements that undermine democratic values.
“It is shameful to make such comments about young women participating in student movements,” stated Rama Khalkho.
Khalkho also criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for remaining silent on such statements, indicating their mindset. She urged the party to clarify whether it agrees with its MP's remarks. Congress leaders emphasized their commitment to a democratic struggle for the protection of the constitution, women's respect, and social harmony.
Protest in Mandi: Shoes Thrown at Posters
In Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, a protest was organized under the leadership of Mahila Congress Working State President Tripta Thakur. Activists threw footwear at posters of Kangana Ranaut and burned her effigy. Tripta Thakur demanded that Ranaut publicly apologize to the nation's daughters for her statement.
“Kangana should publicly apologize to the nation's daughters for her statement,” said Tripta Thakur.
Thakur also called for strict action against the MP from the BJP leadership. She recalled a previous incident involving Ranaut at Chandigarh Airport and warned that protests in Himachal Pradesh would intensify if such rhetoric continued. A large number of Mahila Congress office bearers and workers, including District Mahila Congress President Anjay Kumari, participated in the demonstration.
The Statement Triggering the Controversy
The controversy was sparked by a comment made by Kangana Ranaut about the 'Gen Z' youth protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. Following this statement, the Congress, deeming it an insult to women, initiated a series of protests across the country. As of the time of reporting, there has been no official response from Kangana Ranaut or the BJP regarding these protests and accusations.
