Kajal Aggarwal on 'Ramayana Part 1' role: Significance over screen time

The Cliff News | 7 November 2026

Actress Kajal Aggarwal has shared her profound feelings about her role as Mandodari in the recently released epic, Ramayana Part 1. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film, which features Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash in lead roles, is currently making significant waves at the box office and in the hearts of audiences.

Amidst the overwhelming success of the film, Aggarwal took to social media on November 7, 2026, to post a series of behind-the-scenes photographs from the sets, showcasing her portrayal of Ravana's wife. In a heartfelt note accompanying the images, she articulated her deep sense of pride and fulfillment in being a part of such a monumental project.

Pride in Cultural Association

Aggarwal expressed her immense pride in being associated with the magnum opus, stating,

It is an immense moment of pride to be associated with a magnum opus like Ramayana, in any capacity.
She also extended her gratitude to the official handles of the film.

The actress acknowledged that her role in the film, while perhaps not extensive in terms of screen time, holds significant personal value. She believes that the true measure of a film lies not in the length of a character's appearance, but in the grandeur of its narrative and the passion invested in its creation.

Redefining Cinematic Value

Speaking candidly about her experience, Aggarwal highlighted her perspective on the film's impact.

Albeit my role may be small, being part of a story that is so deeply woven into our culture, our history and our very existence, and being associated with a phenomenal team of such passionate and dedicated artists and technicians, truly fills my heart.

She further elaborated on this sentiment, emphasizing that some films transcend the conventional metrics of success.

Some films aren’t measured by the length of a role or the minutes spent on screen. They are measured by the magnitude of the story, the passion behind its making and the privilege of being associated with something so deeply rooted in our collective faith and divinity.

Gratitude to Filmmakers and Collaborators

Aggarwal extended her sincere appreciation to the producers and director for entrusting her with the role.

A heartfelt thank you to @iamnamitmalhotra and @niteshtiwari22 sir for thinking of me and giving me this opportunity to be a part of something that will forever be etched in our history, while also being a pioneering step from India towards global cinema.

The actress also lauded the ensemble cast for their exceptional performances, acknowledging their inspiring dedication and talent.

To all the wonderful artists, you were nothing short of phenomenal and such an inspiration. Your dedication, talent, and commitment are a reminder to always raise the bar and put our very best foot forward.
She specifically mentioned Yash, Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey, Sunny Deol, and Lara Dutta among the commendable artists.

Reflecting on her interactions with her industry peers, Aggarwal shared her joy in working alongside actors like Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, and Adinath Kothare.

To my dear friends @rakulpreet @vivekoberoi and @adinathkothare, sharing screen space, conversations, and so many laughs with you was an absolute joy!

Audience Reception and Team Appreciation

The actress conveyed her deep gratitude to the audience for their enthusiastic reception of Ramayana Part 1, which she described as a beautiful piece of cultural heritage.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone for showering this beautiful piece of our cultural heritage with so much love, and for embracing my little yet meaningful character with such warmth and affection. Some associations are truly bigger than the role itself. Ramayan will always be one of them.

Furthermore, Aggarwal made sure to acknowledge the crucial contributions of the crew working behind the camera. She specifically praised her makeup artist Vardhan Nayak, hairstylist Swapnil Kashid, the costume department, and the assistant directors.

And a very special shoutout to my wonderful team – @vardannayak @swapnilkashid_, the costume department and our incredible assistant directors. You guys truly hit it out of the park! Your hard work, attention to detail, and dedication made every bit of this journey special. All the appreciation and love coming your way is so well deserved. This one’s as much yours!
