A remarkable achievement has emerged from the International Institute of Information Technology Bengaluru (IIIT-B) as one of its students secured a staggering placement package of Rs 1.5 crore.

This record-breaking offer has positioned IIIT-B's placement season favorably, outshining top packages reported by several Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Record-Breaking Offers and Broad Success

The lucrative offer was extended to a student enrolled in the institute's Integrated MTech programme. Significantly, two other students also achieved landmark figures, receiving annual packages of Rs 1.3 crore each.

This trend reflects a growing pattern across IIIT campuses, where recruiters are increasingly presenting highly competitive salary structures to attract top talent.

Widespread High Packages

The placement success at IIIT-B extends beyond these top offers. A substantial 22 students have secured annual packages exceeding Rs 60 lakh.

Furthermore, 27 students received offers ranging between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 60 lakh, with over 110 graduates placed at annual salaries above Rs 20 lakh.

26th Convocation Highlights

These impressive placement figures were announced during IIIT Bengaluru's 26th Convocation ceremony, where a total of 316 students were conferred their degrees.

The graduating batch included 95 students from the Integrated Master of Technology program, 175 from Master of Technology, 32 from Master of Science (Research), and 14 PhD scholars.

Institute's Focus on Digital Public Infrastructure

IIIT-B Director, Professor Debabrata Das, used the convocation address to highlight the institute's pioneering work in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).

He announced the establishment of India's first DPI Division within an academic institution and cited the Tele-MANAS platform as a key contribution, which has already handled over four million calls.

A unique highlight was the graduation of twin brothers, Siddharth and Sankalp Kothari, both in Computer Science and Engineering. Siddharth was recognized as the best outgoing male student.

100th PhD Scholar Conferred

The ceremony marked another significant milestone with IIIT Bengaluru awarding its 100th PhD in Computer Science and Engineering. Vikas Vazhayil, a neurosurgeon, received his doctorate for groundbreaking research in autonomous robotic neurosurgery.

Comparison with IIT Placements

The Rs 1.5 crore offer from IIIT-B notably surpasses the highest packages reported by several newer and third-generation IITs. For instance, IIT Mandi's highest international package was Rs 46.7 lakh, and IIT Jodhpur reported a top package of around Rs 56 lakh.

Other newer IITs, including IIT Bhilai and IIT Dharwad, have also reported strong placement seasons, but none have publicly announced a highest package comparable to IIIT-B's remarkable achievement.
