House-Sized Asteroid 2025 TC to Pass Safely Near Earth

A house-sized asteroid, named 2025 TC, is set for a close flyby of Earth on 3 October, drawing interest from astronomers worldwide.

The asteroid, roughly 44 feet (13.5 meters) wide, will travel at about 36,128 mph, passing at a distance of approximately 53,300 miles from Earth. While this may seem distant, it is considered close in astronomical terms.

Experts stress there is no danger from this asteroid. It belongs to the Aten group, which frequently crosses Earth’s orbit. NASA only designates asteroids as hazardous if they are larger than 85 meters and pass within 7.4 million kilometers of Earth—criteria that 2025 TC does not meet.

Scientists continue to monitor the asteroid closely because small changes in its orbit can significantly alter its trajectory. Tracking such objects helps researchers understand their movement and prepares us for any potential future threats.
