Strict Action Against Banned Polythene in Guna

In a significant step towards making the city plastic-free, the Guna Municipality has taken strict action against banned, sub-standard polythene. Acting on the directives of Municipality President Savitra Arvind Gupta and orders from Chief Municipal Officer Shailesh Awasthi, a sanitation department team conducted an impromptu inspection of commercial establishments on Ashoknagar Road in the Cant area on Saturday.

During the inspection, Madan Dairy and Mahesh Dairy & Sweets were found to be using banned polythene. Consequently, a total fine of Rs 3500 was imposed on both dairies. The operation, led by Sanitation Inspector Vivek Srivastava, resulted in the seizure of 25 kg 500 grams of sub-standard polythene, with an estimated market value of approximately Rs 5500.

Traders Warned of Stricter Penalties

Sanitation Inspector Vivek Srivastava issued a stern warning to Madan Dairy and other shopkeepers in the area. He clarified that any trader found storing or using banned sub-standard polythene in the future will face not only a heavier fine but also more stringent legal action. This campaign will continue indefinitely with the objective of making the city plastic-free and safeguarding the environment.

The municipality team was accompanied by Shobhit Jadon, Rajesh Majhi from Siddhi Vinayak Waste Management, Aditya Singh Baghel, and Ashfaq Khan during this raid. The administration's stringent action has caused a stir among local traders. Officials have appealed to all shopkeepers to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and completely halt the use of banned materials.

The municipality team plans to continue surprise inspections in various parts of the city in the coming days to completely curb the use of banned plastic and raise awareness about environmental protection.
