Ganga Water Levels Rise, Chitrakoote Dip Submerged, Budaun-Farrukhabad Road Closed

Flood Devastation in Amritpur Tehsil

The Amritpur tehsil area in Farrukhabad district has been severely impacted by the rising water levels of the Ganga River. Dozens of villages are reeling from the floods, causing widespread disruption to daily life.

Villages including Hamirpur, Barua, Imadpur Somvanshi, Budiya Bheda, Asha Ki Madhaiya, Poorvi and Paschimi Gotiya, Chitrakoot, Amarpur, and Khanpur have been submerged. The situation in Chitrakoot village is particularly alarming, with over a dozen families displaced due to water entering their homes. These families are now sheltering along the Budaun-Farrukhabad State Highway under makeshift plastic tarps.

Standing crops in the fields have been washed away, inflicting heavy losses on farmers. A severe shortage of fodder for livestock has also emerged.

Disaster Management and Relief Efforts

Local administration has promptly recognized the severity of the situation. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shweta Sahu, Tehsildar Shashank Singh, Station House Officer Nagendra Singh, and a team from the revenue department visited the affected Chitrakoot village.

Officials engaged with villagers, urging them to move to safer locations. The administration has established relief camps at Ram Niwas School and Mahatma Gandhi Inter College to provide shelter to displaced families.

Traffic Disruption and Health Services Activated

The Chitrakoot Dip is currently submerged under approximately three feet of water, forcing the closure of the Budaun-Farrukhabad State Highway to all traffic in both directions. Barricades have been erected at Raje Pur Chowk and Jama Pur Chowk to halt movement, causing inconvenience to travelers.

In response, the health department has set up a temporary medical camp near Sabalpur village, offering essential medicines and healthcare services to flood victims. The administration assures continuous monitoring of the situation and ongoing relief and rescue operations.
