Inmates Inspired by Truth and Non-Violence at Naugaon Sub-Jail
On the occasion of the 157th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, a special awareness seminar was organized at Naugaon Sub-Jail on October 2, 2026. The primary objective of this program was to introduce inmates to Gandhian values such as truth, non-violence, discipline, and patriotism, and to bring about positive changes in their lives.
The event commenced with Sub-Jail In-charge Himanshu Tiwari, Ward Councilor Jitendra Singh Yadav, social worker Shailendra Singh 'Tinku Raja' Yadav, and senior journalist Santosh Gangele 'Karmayogi' garlanding and paying floral tributes to a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. During the event, fruits were also distributed among the inmates.
Guiding Inmates Towards a Positive Life
During the seminar, speakers elaborated on Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy of life and the importance of adhering to the paths of truth and non-violence he advocated. Ward Councilor Jitendra Singh Yadav urged the inmates to stay away from drugs and the world of crime and to adopt a healthy social life. He emphasized that Mahatma Gandhi's principles remain relevant today and that life can be improved by embracing his ideas.
Senior journalist Santosh Gangele 'Karmayogi' inspired the inmates to internalize the ideals of great personalities, exercise restraint, and fulfill their responsibilities towards their families. He also stressed the importance of promoting social harmony.
Emphasis on Correctional Activities within the Jail
Sub-Jail In-charge Himanshu Tiwari provided information about the various correctional activities being conducted for the inmates within the jail premises. He highlighted the facilities available at the jail and encouraged the inmates to live disciplined lives. Tiwari stated that the aim of these activities is to bring about positive changes in the inmates' mindset and to help them reintegrate into the mainstream of society.
On this special occasion, social worker Shailendra Singh 'Tinku Raja' Yadav's birthday was also celebrated with a cake-cutting ceremony in the jail. To mark the occasion, Sharad Dwivedi and Bhaiyan Gangele distributed sweets among the attending inmates and officials. This event infused a positive energy into the jail atmosphere and aimed to offer a new direction to the inmates.
