Senior Congress leader Sarman Yadav and over two dozen supporters joined the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, strengthening the party's base.

Prominent Congress Leader Defects to BJP in Madhya Pradesh
In a significant political development in Madhya Pradesh today, Sarman Yadav, a senior Congress leader and former Sarpanch of Shikarpur village in the Surkhi assembly constituency, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with more than two dozen of his supporters. This move is being seen as a major setback for the Congress and a boost to the BJP's support base.
The induction ceremony took place at the Bhopal residence of Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection, Govind Singh Rajput. Minister Govind Singh Rajput symbolically welcomed the new members by presenting them with BJP's Angavastram (a shawl symbolizing party affiliation). He lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Vikasit Bharat' (Developed India) mission and the developmental work being undertaken in the state under Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, stating that these initiatives are inspiring people from all sections of society to join the BJP.
Motivated by Development, Yadav Joins BJP
Following his induction, senior leader Sarman Yadav clarified the reasons behind his decision. He expressed deep admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public welfare policies, the developmental projects initiated by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav's government, and particularly the unprecedented development work carried out by Minister Govind Singh Rajput in the Surkhi assembly constituency.
Yadav also cited the BJP's philosophy of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, aur Sabka Vishwas' (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all) as a key factor in his decision. He assured that he and his supporters would now work with utmost dedication alongside Minister Govind Singh Rajput to strengthen the organization, serve the public, and contribute to the development of the region. He emphasized the need to rise above partisan politics and work collaboratively for the constituency's progress.
Development in Surkhi Assembly Constituency is Top Priority
In his address, Minister Govind Singh Rajput declared the development of the Surkhi assembly constituency as his foremost priority. He highlighted continuous historical achievements in sectors such as roads, education, health, irrigation, and drinking water. He assured the new members that every worker joining the BJP would be respected, and all would strive together to build a bright future for the region.
He further stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party is not merely a political party but a campaign for nation-building and public service. The defection has once again raised questions about the internal situation and leadership within the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, as the departure of senior leaders with strong local influence can be a cause for concern.
Welcome to New Members
Besides Sarman Yadav, other prominent Congress leaders and workers who joined the BJP include Rampyare Yadav, Ashish Yadav, Rambabu Yadav, Bhagwandas Sahu, Daulat Singh Yadav, Vinod Yadav, Balaram Pal, Komal Singh Thakur, Takhat Lodhi, Vinod, Ramesh Lodhi, Devendra Yadav, Rakesh Yadav, Naresh Yadav, Vishal Yadav, Amit Yadav, and Laxminarayan Yadav, totaling over two dozen individuals. Senior BJP officials, public representatives, and a large number of workers were present at the event. All welcomed the new members with flower garlands and good wishes, terming it a symbol of organizational strength and growing public faith in the BJP within the Surkhi assembly constituency.
