Project Inaugurated for Buddhist Monastery Renovation

A significant step has been taken towards the renovation of the historic Buddhist Monastery located in the Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has approved a project worth ₹109.30 lakh for the beautification and expansion of facilities for devotees at this prominent religious site.

The responsibility for the implementation of this project has been entrusted to the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation. Local MLA Nagendra Singh Rathore formally inaugurated the development works with religious rituals at the Buddhist Monastery premises on September 18, 2026.

Planned Development Works

Under this project, a new main entrance gate, a multipurpose hall, modern toilet blocks, and solar lighting will be installed at the Buddhist Monastery. Additionally, benches will be placed for visitor seating, and interlocking work will be carried out within the premises.

Boosting Religious Tourism

These development works are expected to provide new momentum to religious tourism in the region. District Tourism Officer Dr. Maqbool and Assistant Engineer Nishant Sharma informed that the development of these facilities will offer a better experience for devotees and tourists visiting in the future.

The objective of the project is to promote tourism activities in the area and boost the local economy. MLA Nagendra Singh Rathore expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh for this development work.

He stated that with the cooperation of the state government, tourism in the district is continuously expanding.

Departmental officials, employees, and local dignitaries were present on this occasion. The administration believes that upon completion of the project, the scope of religious tourism in Farrukhabad will widen further, creating local employment opportunities.
