Traders Express Concerns Over Illegal Moneylending and E-Rickshaw Issues

Local traders in Farrukhabad have expressed grave concern over the rising incidents of illegal moneylending and the arbitrary behavior of e-rickshaw drivers. During a meeting with Additional Superintendent of Police Girish Kumar Singh at the Police Line auditorium, trader leaders reported that numerous individuals are exploiting the needy by offering loans at exorbitant interest rates without licenses.

These loan sharks are reportedly charging interest up to ten percent and engaging in strong-arm tactics for forced recovery, leading to widespread anger among the business community. The meeting also shed light on the city's traffic and security arrangements. According to traders, the number of illegal e-rickshaw drivers in the city has increased alarmingly.

Concerns Over Student Safety and Traffic Congestion

Instances of misconduct by these drivers towards female students, particularly during school dismissal times, have raised serious questions about student safety. Furthermore, police patrolling significantly decreases at major intersections after 8 PM, resulting in traffic system breakdown and frequent severe congestion in busy areas like Lalasrai.

Demands for Action Against Illegal Moneylending

Several officials, including District Industry Trade Association President Sadanand Shukla and Senior Vice President Raju Gautam, presented their views at the meeting. Raju Gautam explained how vulnerable individuals are falling into the trap of illegal moneylenders, enduring immense mental and financial distress. The traders demanded strict action against such usurers and an investigation into their licenses.

They urged the administration to find a permanent solution to this serious problem. The traders requested that action be taken against these loan sharks and their licenses be investigated.

Assurances on Security and Traffic System Improvements

After listening extensively to the traders' issues, Additional Superintendent of Police Girish Kumar Singh assured them that their concerns have been taken seriously. He promised to take prompt and effective steps to maintain law and order and improve security.

The SP stated that special drives will be launched to curb illegal moneylending and the arbitrary actions of e-rickshaw drivers. Additionally, instructions will be issued to increase police patrolling at night and streamline the traffic system. The administration will actively work towards curbing these illegal activities.
