Ration Black Marketing Uncovered in Farrukhabad

Serious irregularities have been exposed in the distribution of food grains under the Public Distribution System in the gram panchayat of Ahmedpur Devariya, located in the Kamalgaj development block of Farrukhabad district. In response, the administration has taken a stern stance, immediately canceling the contract of fair price shop dealer Meena Devi.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Meena Devi and her son, Ankit Katiyar, at the Jahanganj police station under the Essential Commodities Act for their involvement in this irregularity.

Investigation Reveals Diversion of Food Grains

Information received from officials of the Supply Department indicates that multiple complaints had been lodged against the dealer. Following these complaints, the Supply Inspector, Sadar, conducted an on-site inspection of the ration shop in Ahmedpur Devariya village.

The inspection clearly revealed that 40.611 quintals of wheat, 65.149 quintals of rice, 34.400 quintals of millet, and 29 kilograms of sugar, allocated under the government quota, had been subjected to black marketing or diversion. Furthermore, blatant violations of regulations were found in the shop's operation and food grain distribution process, preventing eligible consumers from receiving their entitled supplies.

DM Approves Strict Action Against Dealer

This punitive action was taken in compliance with the approval order issued by the District Magistrate on September 22, 2026. The police have registered a case against dealer Meena Devi and her son Ankit Katiyar under Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

The police have initiated an immediate investigation and further legal proceedings are underway. The administration is committed to ensuring fair distribution of essential commodities to all eligible cardholders.

Warning Issued to Other Dealers

In light of this incident, the Supply Department has issued a strict warning to all other fair price dealers in the district. The department has made it unequivocally clear that any negligence or black marketing in food grain distribution will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Henceforth, any such complaints will result in not only stringent departmental action against the concerned dealer but also their prosecution under the law. The administration has emphasized that it is mandatory for all dealers to provide supplies to ration cardholders as per regulations, and any form of laxity will be viewed with utmost seriousness.
