Farrukhabad Authorities Convene Meeting on Road Safety, Mandate Accident Reduction Measures

District-Level Road Safety Committee Meeting Held in Farrukhabad

A crucial district-level road safety committee meeting, chaired by District Magistrate Dr. Ankur Lathar, was held at the Collectorate Auditorium, Fatehgarh, with the objective of reducing road accidents and enhancing traffic system safety in Farrukhabad. Superintendent of Police Mrs. Aarti Singh was also present, participating in discussions on various aspects of road safety.

The primary agenda of the meeting focused on a detailed review of measures to reduce road accidents, facilitate smoother traffic flow, and address other significant points related to road safety within the district. District Magistrate Lathar directed officials to identify accident-prone areas, also known as 'black spots,' and ensure prompt implementation of corrective actions.

Prioritizing Infrastructure and Safety Measures

Instructions were issued to officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Public Works Department (PWD) to undertake immediate repairs of damaged roads. Emphasis was placed on installing road signs, reflectors, speed breakers, and warning boards according to prescribed standards, ensuring drivers receive necessary information for safe navigation.

Special Directives for Kanwar Yatra and Monsoon Season

In anticipation of the upcoming Kanwar Yatra, the District Magistrate instructed the NHAI and PWD officials to ensure the proper functioning of streetlights for the convenience of devotees. Furthermore, directives were given to focus on resolving waterlogging issues, considering the monsoon season. Instructions were also issued for the systematic cleaning of drains along highways to ensure smooth water drainage and prevent water accumulation on roads.

Citizen Responsibility and Enforcement of Traffic Rules

District Magistrate Dr. Lathar stressed that road safety is not solely the responsibility of the administration but a duty incumbent upon every citizen. He directed the Transport Department, Police Department, and PWD to jointly launch a campaign in primary, secondary, and higher educational institutions, as well as public places, to ensure effective compliance with traffic rules.

He also ordered regular stringent action against individuals driving without helmets, without seatbelts, engaging in overloading, overspeeding, and driving under the influence of alcohol. Discussions also covered organizing various activities under road safety awareness campaigns in schools and colleges, highlighting the importance of public participation through initiatives like Road Safety Month to educate drivers about traffic regulations.

Ensuring Swift Medical Assistance and Progress Review

The District Magistrate underscored the critical importance of providing immediate medical facilities to accident victims, directing the Health Department and relevant agencies to maintain swift coordination. The progress of road safety-related work by various departments was presented during the meeting. The District Magistrate provided necessary guidance and instructed all concerned officials to complete their tasks within the stipulated time and with quality.

Notable attendees included Additional Superintendent of Police Girish Kumar, District Inspector of Schools Sanjeev Kumar, District Basic Education Officer Vishwanath Pratap Singh, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, and other officials from relevant departments.
