Pilot Launched for Barrier-Free Tolling at Fanda

The Fanda Toll Plaza, located on the Bhopal-Dewas route, has initiated a pilot test for an ambitious barrier-free tolling system. This new initiative by Dewas-Bhopal Corridor Private Limited (DBCPL) aims to make passenger journeys smoother, faster, and more seamless through the use of modern technology.

The primary goal of this ongoing trial is to simplify the toll payment process and eliminate the need for vehicles to stop at barriers. This will help alleviate the long queues often encountered during peak hours, a common issue at traditional toll plazas where vehicles frequently slow down traffic and waste valuable time.

Digital Tolling Advancement

The barrier-free system addresses this problem directly. At the Fanda Toll Plaza, vehicles are identified using Fastag and camera-based technology, allowing them to pass through the toll area without stopping. This integration of technology will eliminate the repetitive stopping and accelerating, directly saving passengers time and reducing fuel consumption.

This initiative is considered a significant step towards promoting digital tolling. The coordinated use of Fastag and cameras has fully automated the toll transaction process, ensuring that each vehicle's identification and toll payment occur seamlessly. However, the company has also provided an alternative arrangement for potential technical issues or insufficient balances in Fastag accounts, with provisions for issuing e-challans in such cases.

Focus on Enhancing Passenger Experience

Dewas-Bhopal Corridor Private Limited is primarily focused on providing passengers with a seamless and pleasant travel experience. This technological intervention is viewed as a crucial solution for effectively managing congestion at the toll plaza during peak hours. The results of this pilot project currently underway at the Fanda Toll Plaza are being closely evaluated to understand its effectiveness.

Potential for Future Expansion

The corridor also covers other toll plazas such as Amlaha and Bhaurasa, in addition to Fanda. If the barrier-free trial at the Fanda Toll Plaza proves successful, there is a strong possibility that similar modern tolling systems will be implemented at other toll plazas along the corridor in the future. This initiative reflects the growing impact of technology on India's road infrastructure and the commitment to providing better and more efficient services to passengers.

DBCPL is continuously striving in this direction to make road travel not only more modern and safer but also to ensure punctuality. Officials believe that the effective use of technology will form the basis of future road transport systems. This represents a positive change for passengers, a concrete step towards reducing unnecessary interruptions during journeys, and is expected to facilitate smoother movement across the entire route.
