Excise Department's Campaign in Guna: One Arrested with Illicit Liquor
Guna Excise Department seized 64 liters of illicit liquor and arrested one person following a crackdown on illegal alcohol trade.

Illicit Liquor Seized in Guna Operation
The Excise Department in Guna district has conducted a major operation against the illicit manufacturing, storage, and transportation of liquor. In an action on October 8, 2026, 64 liters of hand-distilled illicit liquor were recovered from a motorcyclist, who was subsequently arrested.
The seized liquor and motorcycle are estimated to be worth 75,000 rupees. Acting on the instructions of Collector Kishor Kumar Kanyal and Gwalior Divisional Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Sharma, and under the guidance of District Excise Officer Guruprasad Kevat, a special team led by in-charge of Excise Circle Guna-1, Radhakishan Attariya, raided a highway.
Interception and Recovery
Based on information received from an informant, the team intercepted a motorcycle and conducted a search. During the search, 64 liters of hand-distilled liquor, packed in plastic pouches, were seized from two large sacks and a bag carried on the motorcycle.
Testing and Valuation of Seized Items
Due to the strong odor emanating from the seized liquor, the team collected samples for testing and has initiated the process of sending them to FSL Gwalior. The total estimated value of the confiscated items and the motorcycle has been assessed at 75,000 rupees.
Arrest and Legal Action
The arrested accused has been identified as Brijlal, son of Parasram Pardhi, a resident of Bilakhedi. The Excise Department has registered a case against him under sections 34(1)(a), 34(2), and 49(a) of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act. Following his arrest, the accused was presented in court, from where he has been remanded to judicial custody.
The investigation into this case is ongoing, and the department is closely monitoring other suspected individuals. Excise constables Arun Kumar Sharma, Govind Singh Meena, and Kamal Barodiya played an active role in this successful operation. The department has clarified that this campaign against illicit liquor will continue uninterrupted in the future, causing a stir among illegal alcohol traders.
