Major Crackdown by Excise Department in Narmadapuram, Six Cases Registered
Narmadapuram | The Cliff News | September 18, 2026 In a significant operation against the manufacture and sale of illicit liquor, the Excise Department in Narmadapuram district has once again taken substantial action. Under the directives of Collector Somesh Mishra and guidance from District Excise Officer Dr. Rajiv Prasad Dwivedi, department personnel conducted raids across various areas of the district on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
During this intensive campaign, a total of six cases were registered under the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act. The raiding teams seized 20 liters of raw country liquor and 220 kilograms of Mahua Lahan from the spot. The estimated value of the confiscated illicit material is approximately Rs 26,900. This action was undertaken with the objective of curbing the illegal liquor trade and maintaining law and order in the region.
Action Also Taken Against Government Liquor Shops
In addition to tackling illicit liquor, the Excise Department also inspected government-run liquor shops operating in the district. During these inspections, nine new departmental cases were filed for non-compliance with regulations and other irregularities found. This move represents a significant step towards ensuring transparency and strict adherence to rules in the operation of government liquor outlets.
Several department employees, including Assistant District Excise Officers, Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables, and Constables, played a crucial role in this joint operation. District Excise Officer Dr. Rajiv Prasad Dwivedi emphasized that the campaign to prevent the manufacture and sale of illicit liquor will continue unabated. He assured that strict legal action would be taken against those who violate rules and engage in illegal businesses in the future.
The department's effective action has sent ripples of concern through the illicit liquor mafia.
