Special Enforcement Campaign Against Illicit Liquor

In line with the orders of the Uttar Pradesh Excise Commissioner and directions from District Magistrate Dr. Ankur Lathar, a special enforcement campaign is underway in Farrukhabad against the manufacture, sale, and transport of illicit liquor. The primary objective of this campaign is to free the district from the illegal liquor trade, spearheaded by District Excise Officer G.P. Gupta.

As part of this campaign, on September 13, 2026, Excise Inspector Kumar Gaurav Singh, along with his team, raided a suspicious location in Village Lakoula. During this raid, the department recovered 18 liters of illicit raw liquor and approximately 120 kilograms of 'lahan' (a mixture used in liquor production).

The entire recovered 'lahan' was immediately destroyed on-site. In connection with this incident, a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Excise Act. Local residents have been made aware to avoid consuming illicit liquor and to share information about such illegal dens with the department.

Surprise Inspection of Licensed Premises

In addition to actions against illicit liquor, the excise team also conducted surprise inspections of various licensed liquor shops in the area. This included a thorough check of country liquor shops located in Bag Lakoula and Narkasa, as well as composite shops at Kadri Gate Tiraaha.

During the inspection, stock registers, online payment systems, sales details from POS machines, and the functionality of CCTV cameras were closely evaluated. Cantinas associated with country liquor shops were also thoroughly searched.

Strict Action Warning for Irregularities

Clear instructions have been issued to the respective shop licensees to keep all their records updated and ensure full compliance with the standards set by the government. The stock of liquor available at the shops was cross-matched with their records.

The department has warned of strict punitive action if any irregularities are found in the future. The department has also clarified that vigilant monitoring is being maintained on suspicious activities in the area, and effective enforcement actions against illicit liquor will continue unabated. This campaign is a significant step towards maintaining peace in the district and eradicating the network of illegal liquor from its roots.
