Old Pension Scheme and Contract Worker Regularization Demanded

Mahoba, August 9, 2026 – On the occasion of the anniversary of the Quit India Movement and Kakori Train Action Day, the district unit of the Joint Struggle Operation Committee (S-4) organized a one-day resolution assembly in Mahoba. During this assembly, tributes were paid to the immortal martyrs of the freedom struggle, and strong demands were made for the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and the regularization of contract workers.

Teachers and employees present at the event emphasized the need to abolish schemes like the National Pension System (NPS) and the Uttar Pradesh Pension Scheme (UPS) and re-implement the Old Pension Scheme to secure their future. Teacher leader Sushil Tripathi specifically stressed that this is essential for securing the future of employees. Additionally, he prominently raised the demand for the immediate regularization of Shiksha Mitras, instructors, and other contract employees.

Demands for Abolishing Compulsory Requirements Also Heard

Other teacher leaders also raised significant issues while addressing the resolution assembly. Teacher leader Ramakant Mishra demanded the abolition of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for working teachers and employees. Committee convener Prashant Saxena stated that the dreams of the martyrs for India can only be realized when teachers and employees work in an environment free from fear and with security. He warned that if a swift decision is not taken on these demands, the movement will be broadened to include employees from various organizations.

At the end of the assembly, a decision was made to send a memorandum, addressed to the President, Prime Minister, Union Finance Minister, Governor, Chief Minister, and Principal Secretary, via email and registered post. This memorandum will outline the key demands of the employees. During the event, the newly elected District President of the Secondary Teachers' Association, Mr. Pathak, was warmly welcomed with a garland. A large number of teachers and employees, including Naveen Gupta, Jyoti Prakash Tiwari, Pavnesh Pathak, Vijay Agarwal, Roop Singh Rajput, Madan Pal Singh, Devesh Tiwari, Pankaj Nagayach, Ravindra Singh, Chandrabhan Kushwaha, Virendra Kumar, and Ramashankar Verma, were present with the tricolor flag, showcasing their national spirit and commitment to their demands.
