Administration Launches Crackdown on Illegal LPG Use

The administration in Guna district has initiated a stringent campaign to prevent the black marketing and commercial misuse of domestic gas cylinders. Acting on the directives of Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal, a surprise inspection was conducted in various parts of the city on Wednesday under the leadership of District Supply Officer Avadhesh Pandey. The primary objective of this campaign is to ensure an uninterrupted supply of cooking gas for ordinary citizens.

Inspection Uncovers Widespread Commercial Misuse

During the inspections, the enforcement team discovered the commercial use of domestic gas cylinders in several food establishments, hotels, and restaurants. In response to this irregularity, the administration inspected a total of fifteen establishments and seized five domestic gas cylinders from the premises. Notable among the inspected establishments were Jain Sweets Restaurant, Jayaka Restaurant, Trimurti Restaurant, Govardhan Grinder, and Dalchand Hotel.

Action Taken and Directives Issued

A joint team comprising Assistant Supply Officer Ashish Chaturvedi and Junior Supply Officer Shivram Kushwah issued strict instructions to the concerned shopkeepers to utilize commercial gas cylinders for their operations. Officials clarified that this action was taken under the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Supply and Distribution Regulation) Order, 2000.

Cases Registered Under Essential Commodities Act

This measure has been undertaken by the administration under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. New cases have been registered against the establishments found to be using domestic gas cylinders for commercial purposes. The administration has encouraged hotel operators to obtain commercial gas connections to prevent the misuse of domestic gas.

Continuous Monitoring and Warning Issued

The District Supply Department has warned that this surveillance campaign will continue uninterrupted in the district to curb such illegal transfers, hoarding, and black marketing. Strict legal action will also be taken against institutions violating the regulations in the future. The administration's goal is to facilitate the availability of cooking gas for the general public.
